Wedding Poem

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."

Ephesians 5:25-27

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."

2 Corinthians 3:18

Wedding Poem

Like a backward-aging bride,
You're beautiful tonight,
But in decades from today,
You'll be more lovely in my sight.

Today is like the dawn—
Sunrise beauty like I've never met—
But you'll grow bright until it's noon,
And your sun will never set.

On my chest your head may rest
In the gloom of your darkest hour,
But redeemed tears fall in the dirt
And grow a special kind of flower.

Happy and challenging seasons will come,
But I'll watch you grow in the meantime,
As a garden blooms in your heart,
Like a perpetual springtime.

Oh, my Bride, remember this:
You were purchased with a price,
So look to Christ and never mind
A little water falling from your eyes.

Though outwardly we waste away,
Inwardly we are renewed,
And Christ will never let you go.
To your gray hairs he will carry you.
